International Center and Global Education Program, Tokyo Metropolitan University
Jason is a University Lecturer at Tokyo Metropolitan University 東京都立大学 (TMU), where he teaches international human rights law, global issues, and foundational seminars at the International Center 国際センター.
Jason designed two new courses for the International Center:
"Empowering Humanity: The Framework of International Human Rights Law 人間のエンパワーメント:国際人権法の枠組み" offers a comprehensive overview of the international human rights law framework, including the sources of law, UN-based instruments, and implementation mechanisms. It also examines the key tensions and challenges in human rights protection in an increasingly complex and fractured global order.
"Global Dynamics: Navigating Critical Rights-based Issues that Shape Our World Today グローバルダイナミクス:人権と今日の世界が 直面する喫緊の課題" explores a wide range of contemporary issues, from migrant workers' rights and wealth gaps in Asia to global challenges such as misinformation, corporatocracy, and unconscious bias in the workplace.
The two discussion-based courses aim to impart substantive knowledge and more importantly spark meaningful discourse with the ultimate goal of inspiring young minds to become advocates for change—in a world where fundamental rights continue to be threatened.
In addition to these two substantive courses, Jason also teaches a series of foundational seminars on critical thinking and academic English at the International Center's Global Education Program.
