Jason has always considered the most beautiful word in the English language after “mother” to be “teacher.”

For a decade between 2015 and 2024, Jason taught law at the University of Hong Kong 香港大學 as an adjunct associate professor. He now dedicated his spare time to teaching human rights law, critical thinking and academic English at several universities in Japan—it is his way of repaying the country's warm welcome since his relocation from Hong Kong in 2023. Beginning in 2027, Jason will join the faculty at the brand new College of Design of the University of Tokyo 東京大学's College of Design.

Over the years, Jason has given guest lectures and talks on a broad range of subjects—from creative writing and cultural issues to journalism and advocacy—at leading universities around the world, including, among others:
